PicCollage was originally created for phones and tablets on non-Windows platforms. On these devices, PicCollage is running fullscreen and the size of your collage is effectively the same as your screen. When we released PicCollage for Windows tablets, laptops, and desktops, we had to do things a little differently.
With Windows 10, whether on a desktop or a tablet, an application can be run in fullscreen or in a resizable window. If you run PicCollage in a window, you can resize the window any way you like and your new collage will take on the shape of your window. We get messages from a lot of users asking how to go from landscape format to portrait format in Windows, so we thought we’d walk you through it!
If your PC is in “Tablet Mode” and you are running PicCollage on a landscape screen, here are the steps for creating a portrait collage.
1) You need to exit “Tablet Mode”. (If you’re in PC mode, no need to do anything here!)
On a desktop PC, right-click at the lower right corner of the task bar and select “Open Action Center”.
On a Windows tablet, swipe in from the right into the screen to open the same Action Center.
On the Action Center sliding menu, look for a “Tablet Mode” button and turn it off.
2) Select “Grid” or “Freeform” in PicCollage. You can set collage size in these two modes. In “Templates” mode, the size of your collage is set by the template you select.
3) Resize the window to the desired shape. You can resize the window by dragging on any window corner.
Note: It is important that you resize the window BEFORE adding any content to the collage. As soon as you put one photo in the collage, the collage size is set; further resizing will not change the shape of the collage any more. Similarly, you cannot change the shape of an existing collage by resizing the window. You can only set the shape of a new collage.
